Re: Looking ahead to the Championship
Did Ipswich splash the cash to get where they are at the moment? I'd be happy with us staying up next season and am certainly not expecting a promotion push - would be incredible though. What Ipswich have done is amazing. However I think we should try and avoid comparing ourselves to Ipswich as set...

Re: Derby County
Its hard to critisise players in those conditions but Derby seemed to cope better than us, Thought the conditions suited Derby's pace and power through the middle against Pack and Evans, who are both quality players but lacked the pace to cover Derby's breaks. Weather also nullified to some extent ...

Re: New England Kit
Not bothered by the cross design. I remember the 2012 Team GB Olympics kit designed by Stella McCartney had the union jack in different shades of blue and grey, thought that looked quite good. It's the outrageous price of the shirt (just a bit of polyester) that's the real story here!

Re: Peterborough
What a statement win. One nil clean sheet from League 1's best defence versus League 1's best attack. And that defence with 3 first choice players out!

Re: Team for Oxford
Pompey dominating the stats and playing like the home team but failing to carve out any clear chances. Oxford caught is on the break with our defence gone AWOL. We've been in this position a few times this season and come away with all the points....

Re: Back from the Match: Burton
I reserve judgment on Martin until he's had more game time. What I did notice was a lot of the problems caused by Burton's winger on the right were due to a poor combination between Sparkes and Martin, defending as a unit. When Lane replaced Martin, we were much stronger and Sparkes looked much more...

Times article
I read on the BBC gossip section that there's an article in the Times today (behind a pay wall) that a serious breach of agency rules is now being investigated in a transfer between Pompey and Spurs involving Defoe.

Re: England in World Cup Final
As the saying goes, comparison is the thief of joy. And in this case, in my view, irrelevant. Enjoy and celebrate for what it is, a fantastic achievement in a sport that is advancing at an astonishing rate. The goals England scored were technically excellent and would grace any semi final of any top...

Re: Eisener On Network Rail
Network Rail has statutory duties to ensure the rail infrastructure and stations are safe for the public, and that includes on match days. Network Rail is due to be replaced by a new body (Great British Railways) in 2024, so most likely the people dealing with this are kicking this issue in to the l...

Re: Bristol Rovers reviews
Definitely a work in progress. In general I thought the new signings outshone the established players (Bishop excepting - he was decent). Most disappointing were the central midfield trio of Pack, Morrell and Lowery who simply did not impose themselves on the game, and for me that's where things fel...

Re: Now it’s 7
The Mous has picked these players The difference to previous regimes is that recruitment now is led by Rich Hughes and his team. I'm sure Mous plays an important role in it but whether the signings set League 1 alight or ultimately disappoint won't be (or shouldn't be) seen as all Mous' responsibil...

Re: Signing number 6!
Think it's more about signing players who fit the system that the club want to play, with the right physical and mental characteristics for the long slog of a L1 season. Looks like they are acting quickly to get the foundations in early. Not worried about price tags or names, I would prefer us not t...

Club captain Sonny Bradley is leaving Luton as a free agent whatever happens. At 31 must still have several good years ahead for whoever takes him on. Apparently Derby are after him

Re: Brighton Owners v Ours
Not a fair comparison really. Bloom is a bit of a unicorn being a local life long fan with oodles of cash he's willing to inject into his club. How many of those do we have in Portsmouth? Until one comes forward we'll have to make do with prudent step by step investment, poor us.

Re: Retained List
Not really, similar height to Jordan Pickford, Iker Casillas, Shilton. 6ft and over is ok. Ability more important.Betelgeuse wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 10:30 am Don't see the point in keeping Oluwayemi, he's too small for a keeper.
