Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
to chuck my two penneth into the ring the gun lobby really dont help themselves with who they let argue the case for them. the day after the shooting a pro gun lobbyist was on the news, adn his argument as to why an 18 year old can walk into a gun shop and buy 2 assault rifles and lots of ammo (alt...

Re: No confidence vote in Bojo this evening...
Boris should call an early election and use the tide of the Jubilee joy to try and get an early victory - or else Labour get in. Thus, the country gets back on a firm footing, quickly.

Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
Thanks for responding with so much detail - much appreciated. Not sure I believe that the vast majority of what Trump claimed was true, but that's probably one for a separate thread! I noticed in your response to BW that you said the Supreme Court is there to protect the rights of the people (which...

World Cup Group
OK, as it is finalized, I am going to call it first :-) 1 - England - two wins and a dicey 1-1 draw v England 2 - Wales - beat Iran, draw to US and England 3 - US - Draw against Wales will give this bunch hope, before a bad defeat against England and a win against Iran (qualify as a good third place...

Re: Englands performance
Going back to the 80s, haven't we always struggled in the first International after the end of a season. A long road ends, players get a couple of weeks off then back on again...they looked tired and not up for it, and got what was deserved, nothing. Maybe, Germany and Italy will be more meaningful,...

Re: The Jubilee
As an ex-pat, I did enjoy all the Pomp and Ceremony. Laura watched as much as she could but we did spend more time watching the videos on You Tube. The Royal family still produces so much income for GB - it used to be the third or fourth generator of income and I'm sure tourism got a major boost thi...

Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
Thanks for giving the alternative viewpoint. I do have some further questions though. While I agree that mental health issues do play a big part in mass shootings such as we've witnessed recently, isn't part of the problem that it's so easy to get access to guns and that there aren't sufficient che...

Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
If owning guns without a special licence was made illegal then all gun owners would be breaking the law, whether they were criminals or otherwise. I can't really grasp that freedom is infringed by not being allowed to own a lethal weapon. Any freedom we have has to come with rules otherwise there w...

Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
For all the anti-gun people out there, could I put in a hypothetical if gun legislation were to take place (bear in mind, the carefully worded way Biden termed what he wanted would include far more weapons, based on magazine size, than the Assault Rifles (which are actually a banned gun in their off...

Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
Good post but I am sorry to disagree with you concerning not understanding this amendment that makes weapons legally accessible in the US. I stand by saying that this legislation was made for the times they lived in at that time. I am sure it didn't mean that anyone over a certain age could freely ...

Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
I agree we have all tried to be objective here. Sorry US Pompey fan your comment about shootings being ‘very rare ‘ looks like nonsense from this country. Apparently in 2021 there were about 600 mass shooting incidents in the US (more than 4 people at any one time). In England and Wales total for g...

Is the emotion of the game overblown by the media or is it real? Does it increase the interest value in an otherwise 'ordinary' game for non partisans? I like British teams getting to the Finals, especially if it means crying tartan wearers at the Finals. With that said, Wales should be favorites bu...

Re: Indefensible and unforgivable
Could I commend people on this thread for the general approach of the conversation. This board does have the tendency to explode on emotional topics such as this and while I don't share the same views as many on the board, feel that that my comments have been read and hopefully I have tried to respo...
