Re: Pompey vs Fleetwood predictions

I watched the game on ifollow, we missed lots of chances in the 1st half and gave away a terrible goal. Persisting with our defensive line up is mad, especially as we've got the back up players, it's unbalanced and gives us no width to attack. Why can't Cowley see this? I think Jacobs should have b...

And according to Pep, he was withdrawn at half-time last night so he could rest for the Southampton game.

Which is fair, I think.

Re: Pound vs Dollar and the wider economy. Right to feel pessimistic?

Listening to Starmer give his conference speech. Very good and well reasoned policies. Not voted in over a decade but think I will do at the next election. And after getting behind proportional representation yesterday, and promoting a nationalised green energy industry today, I think there could b...

Re: Wycombe

Our match scheduled for 3 December now pulled forward to Friday evening due to the possibility that England finish runners up in the World Cup group So as with Charlton another reasonable distance away trip moved to an evening match making it difficult for many to travel Think it shows a lack of co...

Re: The Mankad

Sadly there is no ideal answer to this. There has to be something which prevents the non-striker from just steaming up the pitch without consequence, but not rooting them to the spot. The striking batsman can get an advantage by leaving his crease (at the risk of being stumped), same should apply to...

Re: The Mankad

Yeah, its never good to see. The law tends to switch back and forth on this every decade or so. I personally have mankaded someone (about five years ago) off the last ball of the first innings, after a batsman continually stole yards while I was still in my run-up. I was already pretty annoyed about...

Re: Hampshire CCC

Pretty extreme though, late season or not. Lancashire were 7 for 6 at one point!

Hampshire CCC

For a club on the edge of winning the Title, they really b*ll*cksed that up! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/ECKO53002 Just the 23 wickets on Day 1. EDIT - And Lancashire v Essex is even worse! 26 wickets! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/ECKO53005 Are the groundstaff meet...

Re: Burton

I've seen a few moaners on social media grumbling about how we should be stuffing Burton. But an away win on a Tuesday night up country and a clean sheet is always an excellent result, even if Burton are in woeful form.

Re: Bad news day

This is news, but not really news. North Korea has done underground testing before, but this is their first openly public declaration with proof of their nuclear capability. Israel is kind of similar. They've never openly declared to be a nuclear power, but I doubt there's anyone on the planet that ...

Re: Saturdays game

Non league fixtures are going ahead - up to and including the National League.

Test Match Day Three seems to be going ahead on Saturday too, (but not today) despite not a ball being bowled in the match yet.

*That didn’t last long. National League now cancelled this weekend!

Re: Saturdays game

Its interesting - high profile events seem to be getting postponed, but smaller events are forging ahead regardless. I've been contracted to photograph a show-jumping event this Saturday (don't ask...). I would have expected those organisers to have pulled the plug immediately out of respect. Nope, ...

Not a good sign given the family seem to have just dropped everything and headed to Balmoral.

Re: v Peterborough

Really good win yesterday - didn't panic after going a (poor) goal down early on and created plenty of chances. We look a genuine threat going forward with several players who can step up and find the net - Scarlett had ice in his veins in front of goal yesterday, especially with the second finish....

Re: v Peterborough

Oakwell is one of those places where I'm glad we're visiting on a Saturday in early September, and not a Tuesday evening in late January.
