Re: Wigan
Thanks Pakefield Blue for your report, I think very measured and spot on analysis. I don't agree with the Doomsdayers here! It was really interesting to see Tunicliffe, Williams and Morrell together in midfield as I had been thinking they would be a really solid trio and effective at stopping the op...

Re: Shrewsbury
Bazza in goal was MOTM, cannot believe he's only 19, really mature commanding performance.

Re: Is Mr Cowley trying to sell players?
We don't know what questions the reporter was asking, to which DC was replying. Could well be a speculative question from the reporter along the lines of "we know there's been interest in Curtis and Harrison, what about Harness, he's shown his quality already this season, isn't it likely a Cham...

we seem bereft of ideas. It's just pass back to Bass, hoof forward, lose ball, try and win it back and repeat.

Re: Denmark.
Soft penalty but we deserved it - pretty stressful though!! How is this team achieving in a manner that eluded Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Ferdinand etc ? Football’s weird. Outstanding leadership. Southgate just gets the players in a way that more celebrated managers like Capello, Sven etc ...

Re: Ronan Curtis - deletes reference to being a Pompey player on Twitter
I would be surprised if we don't get some decent bids. He's a winger with proven end product season upon season. 40 goals and 31 assists in 142 games for Pompey. Yes he's got arrogance about him but some managers will see that as a positive, and far more preferable than lack of belief in himself. Ev...

Good news. Look forward to seeing what they can do with a full season and pre season. Plus I haven't written off this season yet!

Re: Is Kenny Jackett still to blame?
Agree with Weybridge. It's more nuanced than just KJ. We seem to have a history of signing players who have done well at other clubs, been successful and got promotions, but don't quite turn it on at Pompey. It seems psychologically some players don't handle the expectations that come with going to ...

Re: Academy closing?
This is interesting and could have profound effects on the future of the club. Clearly we cannot prejudge what is going on as little reliable information is known at this stage, but losing highly rated young players as part of an overhaul sounds a bit like "throwing the baby out with the bathwa...

Re: New Manager...
Is someone on a promise for a job in the summer? Because Kenny was off anyway? Looks like that. Can't see Cowleys or any of the top targets accepting a short term deal, leaving us with either an enthusiastic young newbie like Matty Taylor; or someone leftfield like Harry. Worst case scenario is we ...

Re: 'Squad Salary Caps' introduced in League One And League Two
The EFL had just eaten itself. Granted this might produce some short term relief for struggling clubs. Longer term, L1 and L2 are being cut further adrift from the Championship to the point where they will become irrelevant. Championship will effectively become Premiership 2, and those two leagues w...

Re: Departures
Hawkins for me was underrated and under appreciated. When we were flying last season I felt he was the fulcrum that allowed Curtis and Lowe to flourish. I reckon plenty of L1 managers will be in for him.

Even if Kenny is interested I doubt he wants to make it public for various reasons, not least that it would undermine the confidence of our current crop going into the playoffs.

Re: So, we are in the playoffs.
It could be said there is no better time to get promotion to the Championship. There are likely to be a fair few teams floundering next season off the pitch (and quite possibly a few going into administration with potential points deductions) and with Pompey having financial stability, could see us ...
