On one hand....twice as much as the rest of the lowers is no big deal when you consider we are probably 10 times richer than most.

On the other hand it completely baffles me why clubs pay agents anything at all!....If they grew some cahunas and stopped paying then the agents would get paid by the people that should be paying them....you know ...the guys they are working for....the players!

I realize this would not much change total outgoing expenses but still.....who else pays the other guys lawyer?

Agree with that. It needs all clubs to agree and from Jan 1 next year (or whenever) stop paying agents.

I agree too. Agents are parasites who do nothing but harm to the game.

I'd rather the FA found a way to forbid clubs to make payments to them with some kind of sanction.

Indeed. I think there's a place for them when acting on behalf of youngsters, maybe up to the age of 21. Or for your first professional contract if you're a late bloomer (like Ian Wright). But after that, you're on your own.

Stuck in your contract and want out? Get an Employment Law specialist.

Would still be fraught with problems though. Giving clubs/owners all the power isn't necessarily an improved situation (except in our case, muahahahahah!!!).

I don't really have a problem with agents...I mean you cant really expect a knuckle dragging Center half to negotiate the finer points of a multi million $$ contract with big club lawyers......I just have an issue with the clubs somehow paying for both teams at the negotiating table

I was talking last night night to a guy who is in IT recruitment, which is basically the same thing as an agent. He said his firm operates a triple payment scheme. £5k for just supplying a list of candidates to a prospective employer, another £5k should anyone on that list be offered an interview, and another £5k if their client is offered the job.

I dread to think how much money football agents are screwing out of the industry.
