Re: Just When You Thought....
What a beautiful creature. I'm pleased they didn't kill it.
I before E except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour

Luckily those guys are pretty responsible Anglers, I'd expect nothing less of them. Having to Kill a fish for a weight record is a shame as with most species when they get to the upper limit of the weight range they're nowhere near as palatable as a much smaller one.the_lock_man wrote:What a beautiful creature. Brilliant story. Porbeagle live around our coast all year round & no one has ever suffered so much as a scratch. Sharks get a notoriously bad press but are under severe pressure because of shark finning. Because they are very slow to reach an age when they can mate any removed can cause catastrophic damage to their numbers. Because of finning so many species are now listed as endangered, so its great to see catch & release being practiced more & more.
Well done both fisherman.

By the way Bluesbro', you didn't miss much with regards to the Black Bream this season. Went out twice on Moonshine, and whilst we caught a few, Pete was bemoaning the fact that this was a very poor year for them in general.

I blame the French & Spanish, bastards will eat anything no matter what size.Selsey Bill wrote:By the way Bluesbro', you didn't miss much with regards to the Black Bream this season. Re: Just When You Thought....
The usual suspects! Did get a few nice rays off boulder bank, including two thornbacks over 10 pounds, a few smuts, and by the second trip the mackerel had arrived. Every fish caught was returned alive apart from decent sized male bream and a few mackerel.Bluesbro' wrote:I blame the French & Spanish, bastards will eat anything no matter what size.Selsey Bill wrote:By the way Bluesbro', you didn't miss much with regards to the Black Bream this season.
