Re: Michael Appleton
Have you noticed how every Pompey-related news item in the last week or so has heaped more pressure on to the high-earners, especially "Our Friend Ben Haim", as Trev was quoted as calling him this morning.
I before E except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour

Re: Michael Appleton
I dont have much doubt that he will quit sooner rather than later.
Why put up with this when you don't have to?
50% of sucessful management is getting the right players in...your players...within the budget you' are allowed.
He's completely handicapped here.
All he's doing by staying here is risking geting a rap as a manager with 2 successive relegations on his resume.
You gotta know when to fold.

Re: Michael Appleton
neither of them will play in L1 even if they insist on seeing out their contracts
two things will happen
1. it will force liquidation
2. they will sit on their rears all season as we can not afford to honour any bonus payments in their contracts let alone their base pat

They didn't take the ten away. Nor did they run the club for the last 3 or 4 years .past memories wrote:Thought it was the players who earned the points.Norman Piper wrote:None of this is any players fault .

Re: Michael Appleton
Agreed, but with a little more effort, enough points to stay in the Champs could have been gained.Norman Piper wrote:They didn't take the ten away. Re: Michael Appleton
Don`t tell me it was because ten points were deducted, they knew about that early enough to start work, and they didn`t. Think of the points that were thrown away at home.

Now you're changing the argument.past memories wrote:Don`t tell me it was because ten points were deducted, they knew about that early enough to start work, and they didn`t. Think of the points that were thrown away at home.
You said enough points to stay in the Championship could have been gained. They were.
How you're saying 11 points more than were necessary to stay in the Championship could have been gained. Which is guesswork.
Re: Michael Appleton
Perhaps you missed some of the season but for the alot of it we didn't even have enough players to fill the bench let alone have anything like a proper squad .past memories wrote:Don`t tell me it was because ten points were deducted, they knew about that early enough to start work, and they didn`t. Re: Michael Appleton
not wishing to start an argument but surely you noticed we had one of the highest wage bills in the league with a team full of premiership experience who consistently under performed, we should have been sitting pretty in the league even with the deduction if players like lawrence, kitson, mokoena, ben haim etc. earnt a fraction of their money, the season was propped up by cheap but stunning performers such as pearce and henderson without them we'd have been down long before the end of the seasonNorman Piper wrote:Perhaps you missed some of the season but for the alot of it we didn't even have enough players to fill the bench let alone have anything like a proper squad .past memories wrote:Don`t tell me it was because ten points were deducted, they knew about that early enough to start work, and they didn`t.
