Re: Moyes sacked
5 live have talked about nothing else since 1st thing this morning. It's SOOO boring for anyone who isn't a Manchester Utd fan! And I don't suppose he'll need to sign on either. Must be walking away with a tidy sum and a bit of relief. He didn't look very happy as their manager.

Rumours are a £5m payoff.
I would happily lose a bunch of games and prove my incompetency for £5m. In fact I'd do it for £2m if you are listening Malcolm.

But the serious point is why oh why a 6 year deal?
Bit arbitrary, wasn't it?

Re: Moyes sacked
I think the pay-off might well be more than that as he was on a SIX year contract. The whole point of a long contract is to protect an asset from rivals - did they really think that Moyes would move on to another club after a successful season? Moyes wasn't the only one who made stupid mistakes at United.Pompski! wrote:Rumours are a £5m payoff.

I was quite amused by Terry Christian (who, to be fair, is a real fan) bemoaning the emphasis on what he called the "armchair generation" but also complaining about the Glazers taking so much of United's income out of the club. That'll be the income from the "armchair generation" then.
I long for the season when we can laugh at both United and Liverpool "supporters"!

Break clauses based on lack of performance may also exist though.Miss Tickle's bottom wrote:I think the pay-off might well be more than that as he was on a SIX year contract. Next united manager? Get your money on Howard Webb.
He's already won United more games than Moyes did.

Yup, I expect so - good call.Kingofstar wrote:Damned United over again. 'Cept Moyes is no Clough.
Interesting 1 'idea' - the Liverpool 'boot room' (mkII). Giggs, Neville (G), Neville (P), Scholes, maybe Butt as well. Three already there. Could see Giggs (got his badges already) having the respect of his peers and probably the best 'front man'.
Agree with the "Moyes always on a loser though". But, really do think it didn't help that there didn't seem to be much forward planning in the last few Fergie years (in terms of player investment). They've only 5 'international' class players (at best). So they still need another 3 real good-'uns. Then can probably get away with playing 3 of the 'squad players' that they have about a dozen of.
van Gaal I can see getting it. Jose will be miffed at not maybe having a 'hiatus' (dependent on which version of his want for the job you believe). But I like the boot room idea (if I was a United fan - which I'm not - despite living south of the M25...)
