Blossom

Post by Miss Tickle's bottom »

Isn't the blossom on the trees particularly lovely this year? It cheers me up it does, cheers me up.
The rape is looking lovely this year, too. But why can't we call it 'canola' like the rest of the English-speaking world?

It is a fab year for blossom so far - hopefully the garden will produce an abundance of fruit this year too.

As for why we call it rape - I canola imagine.

and the wild flowers are the best I've seen in years or perhaps as I get older I appreciate it more! Primroses amongst carpets of bluebells. That's England, that is.

Never knew canola was the same as rape. What crop produces the lovely blue fields?

Absolutely stinks of rape around here. (ooer)

Every bl**dy field is full of the stuff. I don't get hayfever but the smell and the taste in the back of the throat is overpowering at times.
I wish they'd genetically engineer it so it smells a bit nicer.

If you suffer from hayfever a field full of rape can be akin to a chemical weapons attack. Nasty stuff and I agree about the noxious smell/taste too.

I also use linseed oil for sprucing up the black trim on my car. A quick wipe over things like the window rubbers, and it'll come up like new!

Our Prunus Shogetsu has been unbelievable this year, branches weighed down by all the blossom. Reckon it was all that rain in the winter that did it.

Drove past this bluebell wood today and had to stop and take a pic which doesn't do it justice but worth sharing on this nature table (remember them from infants?)
