By the way, if there's enough support I shall run the Swanwick Saint Memorial Cup again later this year, same format as last time. This November it will be 10 years since Dougie passed on so would be good to mark the anniversary.
Thanks Sherl, your entry wishes are duly noted. I am up for the SSMC esp as it is a notable anniversary. 10 years go so quickly.

There is a flaw in this contest which I feel obliged to point out at the risk of being labeled spoilsport and bad vibe guy.
It is duly noted that USPF and family won or did really well when hosting the contest.
Is this because he/they had some brilliant intimate knowledge of footy predicting?.....No!....it's because the contest organiser predicts every week but the rest of the schleps are bound to miss predicting from time to time.
Unlike McGarveys fantasy prem contest where failure to predict doesn't mean you get zero.
Div III. Call it what it is.

I'd counter that, with the point that organising the compo means that you are immersed in the results every week, and therefore by osmosis at the very least the organiser has a far better knowledge of the form and fortunes of the clubs outside of Portsmouth.

Sure I'd check my score each week but is be unlikely to know where my points came from.

Watch me blow the two above theories out of the water this year. Div 2 is soooo unpredictable.

In fairness, I would say that I was more aware of Div 2 and barely had time for the Prem. There has been a prediction compo on Vital Pompey that I have won 4 of the last 5 years and came second in that one. I don't think I even looked at Div 1 or the Championship.

Currently my workload has gotten to big to concentrate on footy, and last season I didn't keep up with the results in a timely fashion, hence my retirement and dropping to a back up role.
