This one nicely sums up Robbens WC for me.

Eventually Robben's theatricals will come back to haunt him, refs will get wise. Of course if FIFA really wanted to stop it they could book him retrospectively for his constant diving, if he started missing games then his manager might have a word. Job done.

As if the dives were not enough, most of the opposition players were also booked.

Honestly, it's as if the refs don't review their mistakes post-match or flag up players who are prolific cheats.

Didn't a Professor at the University of Portsmouth study 'diving' and came up with the dying swan dive where the arms are thrown back and the back arched, his studies of trips and falls proved that in every instance a genuine trip was countered by the arms thrown forward to save yourself, anything theatrical with an arched back and arms slung behind was premeditated diving.

Problem is footballers as we know are special. If anyone goes near them, their natural footballer instincts kick in, of throwing both arms up in the to appeal to the ref, in the knowledge that decisions are only giving to the appealing team, and they cannot risk the other team appealing when they haven't.

This powerful force probably overrides the less present human instinct of bracing for the impact.

It surely doesn't take a Prof to come to that conclusion, I've been spouting on about those indicators for yonks and beyond.

It befuddles and antagonates me immensely how refs can miss/award fouls/book opposition players for the most obvious dives.

Above all one does not do any screaming until you`ve hit the ground. All the one`s I seen are screaming even before they`ve been clobbered.
