When did they slip that into the water then? Why no fanfare?

So what was the cracking of alcohol a couple of weeks back then?
Are you not supposed to put the boat in the water at that point?

Worked for Vospers years ago....the launches at Woolston were exciting. They had a lift at Porchester though.
Not sure if the Arabs used champers but a bottle of whatever gets cracked on the hull then a giant anticlimax as the ship takes 2 hours to lower into the water.

The dry dock it was in was filled slowly, guess it's hard for that slow process to have a definitive fanfare moment. Not sure i'd fancy sending that girl down a ramp...
