I can't see the point of crushing new potatoes - it's as if the chef started mashing them and suddenly realised he was mashing the wrong kind of potatoes, so came up with a silly name for them.
Love to come round yours for dinner Tickle :D

I'm not against the concept of crushed potatoes, just not new ones. You want to crush a floury potato, not a waxy one.
If you came round to dinner, I'd really push the culinary boat out to celebrate your visit. Yep, grated Tasty Cheddar* on your beans on toast.

*Do shops still sell Tasty Cheddar? Always used to amuse be. A bit like The Chef Recommends. I've digressed. Sorry.

Let's all go for lunch at Tickle's house. Extra cheese for me please. None of your tasteless stuff either.

Anyway, my meal tonight, in answer to young 1985, is a pea and mint risotto, on account of our neighbours who have grown a load of peas and given some to us. I felt quite the country girl, sitting here shelling them. Very therapeutic. I can manage growing the mint (although someone once told me it's impossible to kill mint but I've managed it in the past )but that's where my expertise ends.

I like crushed new potatoes with wilted watercress a bit of olive oil and some black pepper. Fantastic with a rib eye steak

I can't think of a way of preparing potatoes that I don't like. Must be the Irish in me.

Dinner was breaded lemon sole with new potatoes and carrots.

Potatoes and carrots? Way too sophisticated for me.

I'm afraid my toaster can only cope with one guest, so I'll have to start taking bookings.
Did you really have risotto with potatoes?
