He's not leaving politics though. Salmond will still be involved to annoy you further...

He leaves the main stage as a loser and I'll enjoy watching him wallowing in his own bitterness and resentment whenever I see him in the background.

I'm going to set aside a bottle of single malt and a Union Flag with which to salute him whenever he pops up.

Happy Hour, don't take this the wrong way but after your comments about him being over and being corrected by others, I have a vision of you doing a Kryten from Red Dwarf in that cafe that you are in.

"Engage Smug Mode" :rofl

Just need the Krankie to go as well now, or is she waiting in the wings to save the day !!

Am I the only one thinking that David Cameron has played a blinder?

And Salmon quitting has possibly just put the cherry on top.

No it isn't. This isn't an end of anything and survivors like Salmond will thrive in bringing Devo Max to Scotland.

You're in for a long wait...
Hmmmm, not sure about that tbh. To me it looks like he staked everything on the yes vote. Is he the man to take scotland forward as part of UK. I think not.
Well I'm very much in "smug mode". :D

He's not leaving politics. And this decision surprised his former policy director (left the role this summer) and the political journo pool in Scotland. He has been at this leadership thing for 25 years though.

Still when Salmond turns up again, so will the haters. Don't get smug yet...

Well he's not taking Scotland forwards in the UK so now I'm in double smug mode. I dont hate him btw, I reserve that for others to do.
But I think he hates the English as was seen by some of his speeches leading upto yesterday. He @ times concentrated more on slamming the English than explaining how an independent Scotland could finance itself & work. Bad mistake by him methinks.
I'll raise a glass of of Cognac to the 55% of people up there who saw through his bull. I for one am pleased they're still part of the Union.

Yep! You are. I strongly doubt even the delusional Cameron himself would admit to orchestrating this drama.

Again here's Russell Brand's amusing thoughts.....given while being chauffeur driven, no doubt!

There are haters on here though. :D

I wouldn't take speech rhetoric as being entirely truthful re Salmond and England. He has had to play a game for a long time. Its an extraordinary journey for the SNP from being very much a fringe party to being the majority party in Scotland and got close to getting 1.6 million people to vote for independence in a referendum. He has changed UK politics regardless of what people think of him...

And the way that Westminster is behaving post-referendum could bring independence back on the table more quickly than anyone would want. This is merely the end of the beginning I fear.

Yeah....don't think he played a blinder at all.

NFL cliché alert.
He was down in the 4th qtr by 6 and threw a hail Mary into the endzone.

His last speech was ok but I fear it was more born of panic/battle stations than a carefully thought out tactical plan and he only really moved into gear when that one polling showing a lead for the indyjocks came out.

So....yeah maybe he played a blinder in the last mniute of the game.....I've no doubt he was instrumental in getting all the business wallahs to come out against it with their dire warnings of doom in the last minute.
Div III. Call it what it is.
