Not disagreeing with that LT, just glad that he isn't now leading Scotland as part of a UK as it stands. Also standby what I said, his major mistake was playing up to the more "active" elements if you like, but 55% saw through it & I'm delighted they did. Perhaps if he'd concentrated on real issues about finance etc he may have appealed more to those people as well. I'll listen to anyone but as I get older I tend to be able to spot bull(being a Pompey fan helps as well ) a mile off.Lost in Transportation wrote:There are haters on here though.pompeygunner wrote:Well he's not taking Scotland forwards in the UK so now I'm in double smug mode. I dont hate him btw, I reserve that for others to do.
But I think he hates the English as was seen by some of his speeches leading upto yesterday. He @ times concentrated more on slamming the English than explaining how an independent Scotland could finance itself & work. Bad mistake by him methinks.
I'll raise a glass of of Cognac to the 55% of people up there who saw through his bull. I for one am pleased they're still part of the Union.
I wouldn't take speech rhetoric as being entirely truthful re Salmond and England. He has had to play a game for a long time. Its an extraordinary journey for the SNP from being very much a fringe party to being the majority party in Scotland and got close to getting 1.6 million people to vote for independence in a referendum. He has changed UK politics regardless of what people think of him...
And the way that Westminster is behaving post-referendum could bring independence back on the table more quickly than anyone would want. This is merely the end of the beginning I fear.

To me it looks like he staked everything on the yes vote. Is he the man to take scotland forward as part of UK. I think not.Lost in Transportation wrote:No it isn't.
