Although I`ll never forget when Middlesborough came to Fratton 19 Dec 1959. Pompey won 6-3, match played in gale force rainy (understatement) conditions, and Pompey`s makeshift centreforward, Basil Hayward, ( not much of a centrehalf) scored a brace, along with Ron Saunders and Peter Harris. Can`t remember if Cloughie was playing, but his scoring record is remarkable, 274 games, 251 goals.

Clough was brilliant. must be the anniversary of his death but here's another great article from the beeb
Derby from bottom of the 2nd division to league champs and Forest......Euro Champs for a 2nd tier team.....better than brilliant.
