Yep, seems the 5-pointer is more common. I do think it's pretty unique, and even if subliminally, people make the connection with an Islamic country/Pompey having a similar crest. Ar$enal's cannon & Spurs' cockerel & the others you mentioned - agreed. But not that many more really that if you took apart..

Yes, '85. I didn't realise it had already been slightly altered, presented and finished.

Like you I thought the one shown to us on that consultation thingy was cartoony and rubbish.

Looking at the remodelled one - I quite like it. I even like the fact it's white rather than my original preference for yellow (or gold) and white.
