Yep, seems the 5-pointer is more common. I do think it's pretty unique, and even if subliminally, people make the connection with an Islamic country/Pompey having a similar crest. Ar$enal's cannon & Spurs' cockerel & the others you mentioned - agreed. But not that many more really that if you took apart..

Looking at the remodelled one - I quite like it. I even like the fact it's white rather than my original preference for yellow (or gold) and white.
Stop looking for solutions to symptoms and start identifying the disease.

When you bump into a teenager in a small jungle town in se Asia and he points to the crest and says Pompey you realise it is.
