Should Footballers Be or Be Seen As Role Models

Post by Shaker11 »

Poll so please vote!

If your torn between "Yes & No" then perhaps view the link below & also consider whether you would want your children (if you have + all the younger generation) to look up to footballers as role models in society.

This thread has been posted as a result of the interesting comments made on "£3million footballer released from prison"

No way -to be considered as a role model you need to earn respect and I am afraid that in my opinion very, very few of today's footballers have earned that right.

As I pointed out in the other thread, not at all.

Terry - racist
Suarez - racism and biting
Owen - gambling
Merson - drink and gambling
Adams - alcohol
Ron Atkinson - racism
Keys & Gray - sexism
Ranger - rape
Barton - violence

Not to mention the countless bannable driving offences.

and thats just some high profile cases. Look outside the Premiership and there'll be a load more.

Nope - they should be held as an example of how not to behave. Having said that, perhaps that's a bit harsh as I guess most of them get on with their business/life without anything to be particularly proud or ashamed of.

Tried to vote but it wouldn't let me.

Whether or not they want to be or should be role models, millions & billions of young boys, the world over, look up to them, and want to emulate them. They are role models, whether we want them to be or not. And for the record, I agree that an awful lot of the high profile players, like John Terry, Luis Suarez, and those others that Weybridge posted, are entirely unsuitable role models, but that doesn't get away from the fact that they are.

NO. They are a bunch of shaved chimps who kick a ball in a field for our "entertainment".
