Transparency on Transfer Deals

Post by uspompeyfan »

Having looked at the thread on Jed a minute ago, I wondered on the whole whether the club has been more transparent about our dealings. I am remiss at not having kept too close an eye on off-field events this year (listening to the games has been painful enough at times).

Is the club open about the transfer activity and how are we, in this regard, compared to other League 2 sides? I don't mean naming players, but fees and add-ons etc....

In a word Damian, "no".

Normally the O/S has been last to name the deal, and to be fair, by then all the dots dotted and t's crossed. For some reason though (probably to drive the price up?), Catlin likes to rattle the "there's interest in Super Jed" bucket every now & then.

Cheers for that. I could have sworn that when the Trust was set up, and fund raising occured, this was a key selling point (after the saving of the club, of course) as our many previous regimes had been closed to providing information.

The stereotype of politicians who make outlandish promises, in good faith that they want to change the way things are, but when in power, realize that they can't do what they wanted for whatever reason....seems to come to mind.

The football club needs to get the best deal it can get, spouting off from the roof tops what someone has offered in the name of transparency wont help that.

It's still a business.

What about after the event though, once the transfer is complete.

No point telling everyone you have loads of money inflates the cost of anyone you want to bring in and wage demands. Play skint.
