Fair plays to him to be that confident with his closing statement, no doubt he will be measured by that in a number of months time. I really hope if he is that ambitious that the club back him properly and do the best they can to help him achieve it.

According to a Sheffield United supporting friend of mine they are in for Jimmy Ryan and it was all but agreed, but were sniffing.

Another one doing the rounds is that we are in for Gary Roberts.

I would love us to get him, even though age isn't on his side. He would definitely create for Tubbs - he knows how to cross a ball, and he can score himself. He is one of the best players we came up against last year in L2. He does have another year on his contract though.

There top earner he might take a longer contract over a bigger weekly wage I suupose and of their as skint as suggested there might be an opportunity.

Last time I heard a statement of intent like that must have been 2002, when the manager at the time (having just come off the back of a standard barely surviving 17th finish in the second tier, said their target for the next season was "to win the league, whats the point of playing if your aim isn't to win?".

Prophetic words from Mr Redknapp, lets hope Mr Cook can back them up just as well.

Just watched the full interview. What a breath of fresh air! His confidence in himself and what he can achieve will raise the standard of any of our players - just the way he has motivated me to really consider renewing my season ticket.
I do feel good about next year

They claim Awford's target was the play offs. I can't see why a new manager's would be less

Its a bit odd to appoint a manager before telling him what the target is...

He could have been bullish in the interview as well and the board said fair enough but we'll come back with our targets later

But you're right, I would have thought season targets, budgets, players wanted, backroom staff etc would have already been discussed. Especially seeing as he has allegedly decided the future of the out of contract players
