A quick update on the squad.

GK: Jones, Poke

RB:
CB: Robinson, Whatmough, Ertl, Webster, Burgess
LB: Stevens

DM: Dunne, Hollands, Close, (Doyle?)
AM: Roberts, Bennett, Naismith, Barcham, Atangana

ST: Tubbs, Chaplin, McGurk

Assuming that Doyle eventually signs, and we get a proper RB from somewhere, I would be happy to go into the season with that squad. It would be 21 players, but Whatmough is injured and Close & Chaplin very young, so probably about right.

I must admit to feeling that this is the least inspiring of Cookie's signings this summer. Just short of 10 goals a season for Burton, is OK, but not great.

According to the Sun, we are also in the hunt to sign striker David Ball. The 26 year old is now a free agent after leaving Fleetwood.

Another diminutive striker. I am sure we are going to be playing the long ball game this season.

I see we are linked with Mikey Drennan again. Hopefully that doesn't come to pass.

He isn't an out and out striker though. Will play in the three behind the centre forward.

I do like Ball, a mobile centre forward but isn't the best goalscorer.
