Cricket
Cricket is a silly game anyway, so we shouldn't be too down-hearted.
I think we should invent another equally silly game, that no-one else yet plays, so we can be good at something again for a while. It worked for a while with tennis, golf, rugby (x2), football, cricket…….. Surely we’ve got it in us to invent another one?

Re: Cricket
Just make sure it's something we have to sit down to play - we're normally good at those sports.

Re: Cricket
I think the answer is to just create a game no-one else in the world will ever have any interest in.
I realise that will be almost impossible for us Brits but the Americans should be able to help us.

Re: Cricket
We need something that requires lots of crap weather and no training facilities to be able to be good at it.

Re: Cricket
Pub Crawl Cup, surely us Brits would win that no worries, and if in the unlikely event it is a draw it can be settled in a mixed keebab off.RubiconCSL wrote:We need something that requires lots of crap weather and no training facilities to be able to be good at it.

Re: Cricket
You forgot Badminton which I believe originated in Portsmouth or a local club was on of the first to promote it.

EDIT:-
According to Wiki, although it was named after Badminton House, and was originally played in Imperial India, the official rules were launched at 6, Waverley Grove, Southsea.

Re: Cricket
How about:-
o Queueing in the correct manner.
o Complaining about the weather.
o Apologising.
No other nation would stand a chance, nor could they ever learn those things to the degree required to beat us.

We used to be the World Champions at Tiddley Winks a few years back - if they haven't done it again, surely that still stands.
