BTG #yawn - Another IT question

Post by Locky_McLockface »

I recently purchased a new computer to replace an older computer in my workshop.

Sadly, I cannot find the source disc of a particular item of specialist software that I use. Is there some sort of program available that can transfer the old program, registry entries and all, to the new computer?

TIA

Not effectively as far as I know. Symantec Ghost can do it but you'd have needed to install it before installing the software in the first place.

What's the software? If you can prove you purchased it contact the company who may be able to sort you out a new disc.

The company know full well we've purchased it, but would far rather sell us the updated version for £1300.

I think what I might do is to put the HDD from the old computer into the new one, and set up a dual boot.

providing you have a license for the software, there should be somewhere online where you can download it!
Its such a fine line between stupid and clever.

Professional association newsgroup/discussion group. Someone else will have a copy, surely!
