Balls.
It's not the despair, Lua Lua. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand.

We're concentrating on the league.....obviously....

Played really well, great strike by Connor. 8 changes whereas Reading where @ full strength but for 70mins we held sway. Excellent stuff.Wonderful att. of over 18k.

Re: POMPEY vs READING
I look forward to a BFTG from someone, but that went as well as we could have hoped.
Out of the competition, but with pride intact
18,000 crowd is a good financial boost
Back-up players did very well, and will pressurise the "first team"
Another run-out for that team at Exeter next week, and then a few players can go out on loan
Enda Stevens worked off his suspension
No new bookings or injuries
Luton went to extra time and penalties on a heavy ground before Saturday's game
Short of winning, we couldn't have asked for more.

18K+ for a 2nd round League Cup match against Reading? Fantastic support. Only Villa and Newcastle had bigger attendances last night in the competition. The club and fans have been crying out for a bit of success so I'd expect sell-outs nearly every home game this season if Pompey are on a promotion push.

The start of this season has the same feel about it as the start of 2002-2003. If I recall correctly, they released a batch of half-season season tickets midway through the campaign and from thereon in we were pretty much sold out for every home game. In our club's case, the old adage that 'success breeds success' is quite literally bang on the money as increased revenues from larger gates will give us more spending clout in the next transfer window - hopefully to push us over the line. I know we are only 4 league games into the season, and my spectacles are a tad blue-tinted, but trust me, there are good times ahead.Pompey Gary wrote:The club and fans have been crying out for a bit of success so I'd expect sell-outs nearly every home game this season if Pompey are on a promotion push.

You's have to go back a long long way to find me so buoyed up after a loss. The football last night @ times was exceptional, players like Hollands who I thought were a waste of space are now turning in performances that could easily justify a run in the 1st 11. Dont even get me started on Ben Close, Conor Chaplin & Adam Webster who all look destined for success. Those 3 last night were magnificent, plus young Haunstrup who looks a quality act. This appears to be the best crop of youngsters we've had come through since 91.
18k there & you can just tell that everyone is buying into the PC revolution. Fantastic night, even if we did eventually lose.

Re: POMPEY vs READING
Just a question for those who attend......
Our league performances in the past two games have lacked a zest (the comeback started way too late and we shouldn't have been in that position). Are the youngsters who have done so well against Derby and Reading going to get a chance, sooner rather than later? Or will Cook keep to the 'experienced' players too long?
Not being negative, but so much good stuff is said about the youngsters, that maybe they should be considered now?
