We paid more than that for him apparently.Pompey1985 wrote:Can't believe we got £20k for Nigel.

Re: Transfer window so far...
I would be surprised if Pompey don't make a few more moves in this transfer window.
Stubbs to leave and perhaps Lavery (Sheff Wed) and/or Smith (Swindon) in would make sense. Perhaps Smith is a permanent before the window closes and Lavery comes back on loan once in the 2nd week of Feb

I think Sheff Wed are playing hardball over Lavery, rumour is we cannot loan him anymore & they want 500k!! We move on elsewhere I suppose. Shame but PFC cannot be held to ransom anymore.Jack_Tinn wrote:I would be surprised if Pompey don't make a few more moves in this transfer window.

Re: Transfer window so far...
I've seen the same rumour/figure quoted. Lets say that no-one comes in with 500k for Lavery before the window shuts. Sheff Wed then have to choose whether they loan him out and get some of his wages paid for the rest of the season or keep him in the squad and pay all of his wages. At that point I suspect Sheff Wed won't be playing hardball quite so muchpompeygunner wrote:I think Sheff Wed are playing hardball over Lavery, rumour is we cannot loan him anymore & they want 500k!! Re: Transfer window so far...
I'm not so sure wages will bother Wednesday. My thoughts are they have spent a said but if money this season. Do they need to balance the books a little under FFP?

Re: Transfer window so far...
Wednesday are not getting £500k for Lavery. He's not worth that sum for starters and he's out of contract in June. I suspect we'll wait until the emergency loan window re-opens in about ten days time to revisit loaning Lavery until the end of the season

Distinct possibility, but temper that with the fact that we need lavery or a clone of him now really. I'm not a big fan of loaning players, they are subject to recall @ the most inopportune moments.Jack_Tinn wrote:Wednesday are not getting £500k for Lavery. That depends upon whether a recall clause is inserted in the contract.pompeygunner wrote:Distinct possibility, but temper that with the fact that we need lavery or a clone of him now really. I predict Lavery will end up at Barnsley of they sell Winnall today. Apparently they were interested when we got him on loan earlier in the season.

AIUI, emergency loans are by definition recallable in order to comply with UEFA regulations re the transfer window. Of course, gentlemen's agreements exist here. But the other issue is that ELs only last for 93 days which is shorter than the season (particularly an extended play-off season).the_lock_man wrote:That depends upon whether a recall clause is inserted in the contract.

In its present form, yes. The whole loan system is changing for 2016-17.Pompey1985 wrote:Isnt this the last season of the emergency loan window?
