Sea Cities
Anyone see the BBC2 series last night which featured Portsmouth - worth a look and captured a lot of all things Pompey. Any of you ex pats will appreciate it and it was very well produced, particularly the section on the Royal Marines Band....I commend it!

Re: Sea Cities
I watched it and it was very good, you knew the young lad from Turktown was going to get in from the start The other episodes have been good as well.

Re: Sea Cities
I watched it and enjoyed it , quite a mix of stories with the applicants for the RM band being a recurring theme.
The local lad seemed a very good musician compared with the other lad who hopefully may get another chance but the female singer who seemed touch and go with fitness etc resigned after being accepted presume service life not for her .

Re: Sea Cities
I saw it and was generally disappointed, wasn't really the city I know , lots of stuff on young people trying to join a brass band in the navy.but not much on the workings of the city and people in general.
Brexit....Voted for it...Sorry i was wrong.

Re: Sea Cities
Now lookey here Mr Skate - the band of the Royal Marines Portsmouth is firstly not a brass band in the Navy (brass bands live oop North, together with ferrets, outside lavies in the garden, pigeon lofts and Pompey1985). The Royal Marines Band is the finest marching band of proper musicians in the country and helps make us proud to remember our Naval history and knocking weevils out of the ships biscuit!Hamburg Skate wrote: lots of stuff on young people trying to join a brass band in the navy.
