Everybody is "released" who is out of contract. This is not the same as players in contract being put on the transfer list. It doesn't mean their clubs don't want them; just that they haven't agreed a new contract before the end of contract date. Same as Pompey with Davies and Hollands.

Having said that, who wouldn't take Wilson and O'Neil back (at L2 wages)!?

Typo there. You said before he hits 33 - clearly you meant 23.
