Oh no, not another bl**dy marathon...
Thanks to Virgin Money Giving, I have been lucky enough to win a free place in the 2017 London Marathon.
Being the kind soul that I am, I have decided to make the most of this fantastic piece of good fortune, and do a bit of charity fundraising. (Well it would be rude not to). The charity I have chosen to support this year is 'Right to play' which transforms childrens lives through the power of play.
I know many of you on here have been very generous in the past, and it truly staggers me each time how much support I get on here from a bunch of relative strangers!
Although I have run a handful of marathons before, I can ensure you that they don't get any easier, so I will definitley be doing my fair share of suffering, especially as I will be training hard over the next 16 weeks, as I attempt to (finally) crack the 3 hour 30 barrier!

I really appreciate all your support and thank you in advance for any donations!
PS. Feel free to think of me this evening as I'm out on a 10 mile training run in the Thundersnow while you're all tucked up warm and dry sitting on your sofa

You're both too humble to post on here, but thank you to Pompey Penguin and Number 1 Jasper for your donations really does mean a lot, and will make a huge difference to some very vulnerable children!

Thanks so much to all of you that have sponsored me so far. I say this every time, but the generosity of this board never fails to amaze me, especially when you consider we're all basically just a bunch of random strangers.
You may or may not be interested to know, but my training is progressing nicely, was out for three hours on Sunday morning doing a twenty miler, as you do.
Learnt that getting caught in two seperate hail storms wearing tshirt and shorts isn't fun! Hopefully it will be a bit nicer on the day!

Re: Oh no, not another bl**dy marathon...
With the race fast approaching this Sunday, I thought it was time for another update, and another huge thank you to each and every one of you on here that has so very generously donated. You are amazing people.
So with four days to go, the hard work is done, and just a little 4 mile leg stretcher on Thursday remains in my training plan.
Due to little niggles (and motivation issues), I missed a few of my sessions back in February, and due to hockey induced hangovers I had to cut short a couple of my long long runs, however overall I'm feeling ready (as ready as you can ever be), and confident that I can have a good crack at my PB.
Sub 3:43 is the time to beat.
I'm sure you're not, but if any of you are interested, you should be able to track my progress through the London marathon website on the day. I'll let you work out my name from my donation link.
Speaking of which, if there's any more kind souls out there still to donate....

Re: Oh no, not another bl**dy marathon...
Was a tough day at the office for me today. Marathons are hard!
Got round in 3:45 which although a minute or so off my pb, was over twenty minutes quicker than I ran it in 2014 (sending a cow), so I'm very happy with that
Thanks everyone for your sticking, support, and sponsorship.
Made it home now, quick shower, then pizza and beer to celebrate
