Football Dissertation Survey

Post by TomC_SSU »

Dear all,

I am currently undertaking a final year dissertation at Southampton Solent University (Football Studies)

My study is on commercialisation and fan satisfaction, comparing two prominent clubs on the south coast, yourselves and Southampton FC.

I would greatly appreciate if some of you could take the time to complete the questionnaire. It should should only take a couple of minutes (16 questions)

here is the link to the survey: https://surveyplanet.com/58a1e56f031d880ac85ebd95

Kind Regards
Tom

Done.

I don't see how you can compare the results of this survey with results of an SFC survey when we are clearly being asked different questions, but it's up to you how you sell your methodology to your tutors.

Also there is a glaring factual inaccuracy in the penultimate question - you've assumed that it was spending to win the FA cup that led to administration, but there were other more damaging factors. You need to read more. And the mix of quantitative and qualitative data may prove difficult to analyse.

Good luck with it anyway. Let us know the outcome. Presumably you have a rationale for choosing Pompey and SFC rather than Bournemouth and PFC/SFC. Why not all four south coast clubs and do a more complex analysis? (I'd never have got away with a straight comparison by t-test in my final year!) Both Bournemouth and Brighton have had their problems and even SFC fans have not always been that saintly when it comes to the club's owners.

Exactly. I had an identical response to that question.

The ownership question is falsely constructed as we are a privately owned football club with a significant minority shareholding held by the Trust. Perhaps knowing what the financial model actually is would help here.

I thought the Trust had 51% - is it less than that?
