Stanley Aborah
Apparently we have signed him for the rest of the season. He left Notts County so could sign as a free agent.
He is a midfielder - anyone know any more about him?

Not sure I'm too excited about yet another midfielder. Cookie seems to be collecting them. We had Milan Lalkovic who seemed a pretty good attacking midfielder so not sure what this bloke brings to the party that Lalkovic didn't.

Re: Stanley Aborah
He is only on a three month contract, so won't cost us much. He is clearly a talented player, and could be a useful L1 player if he ever gets his head down and puts the work in, both on and off the pitch. A chance for Cook to see if he has reached that point in his career/life where he is ready to do that (not common, but it does happen). A trial for next season more than anything.
However, he is slightly different to what we have at present. Whilst a natural attacking midfielder, he is more robust and defensive than the players we have operating in those roles at present (Bennett, Roberts, Lowe, Baker, Naismith, Chaplin (and Lalkovic)) are all a bit lightweight. I can see a situation where he plays (probably as a sub in place of Roberts) and we almost play a 4-3-3 formation late in games where we want to defend and play on the break.

Bloomin heck Penguin.... you could almost make a claim that Cookie has done something good with comments like that.Pompey Penguin wrote:He is only on a three month contract, so won't cost us much. Re: Stanley Aborah
Just the sort of low risk, high (but unlikely) reward speculation that teams take all the time. For example, who but an idiot would sign a washed up player who was once talented but just had an awful season for a poor West Brom side? Thanks Kanu!uspompeyfan wrote:Bloomin heck Penguin.... you could almost make a claim that Cookie has done something good with comments like that.Pompey Penguin wrote:He is only on a three month contract, so won't cost us much.
