Automatically promoted or playoffs?

Post by Sam_Brown »

Just curious what people on here would prefer. Obviously automatically promoted means less stress but who would want to turn down a day at Wembley?

I just want to get out of this bl**dy league! Preferably without the added stress of a playoff though.

There will be quite enough stress over the next few weeks anyway. Automatic every time.

Me! After the days at Wembley I've had with Pompey in the past 9 years, the League 2 Play Off is not much of an attraction at all. (Although that's not to say I wouldn't go!)

For the experience it depends who the finalist is I guess (although I'd still take automatic promotion every time)

Stevenage v Torquay 11000 (Old Trafford)
Cheltenham v Crewe 24000
Bradford v Northampton 47000
Burton v Fleetwood 14,000
Wycombe v Southend 38000
Wimbledon v Plymouth 58000

Obviously we'd sell our share and then some, but Carlisle? Stevenage? Exeter? Plymouth and Luton would be ok.

Lets just get out!

It better be automatic as I don't think we have the bottle for the play offs.

automatic - don't want the stress of the playoffs and it gives the management team longer to prepare for League 1.

Does anyone have any dates, even just approximate dates, for the play-off process?

Can't recall how many weeks after the end of season the final is typically played.

The L2 PO Final is on Sunday May 28th.

Semi-finals are not decided, but these were the dates from last year (2015-16). Don't expect much difference.
Match A Leg 1 (6 v 5): Thursday 12th May (7.45pm) Leg 2 (5 v 6): Sunday 15th May (6.00pm)
Match B Leg 1 (7 v 4): Saturday 14th May (7.30pm) Leg 2 (4 v 7): Wednesday 18th May (7.45pm)

Needs to be automatic. This squad of players doesn't have the bottle for playoffs.

If I was managing Pompey's opponents, I'd stick 11 players behind the ball for 120 minutes and wait for penalties.

Thanks, PP.

Just want an idea in case I want to book a break. Don't want to miss the play offs if it comes to it.
