I have seen that video loads... And i am 95% certain I'm within touching distance of the guy filming it.RubiconCSL wrote:He also did this. I love this very amateur video, because it captures the atmosphere better than the BBC ever could. The noise after the goal is what football is all about!<dj.> wrote:... and Muntari. My recollection is that Muntari kept Ronaldo in his pocket.

And when the ref didn't give Ronaldo a penalty when Distin barged him over in the box.pompeygunner wrote:luck came when Herman blocked Ronaldo.
And when Carrick air-kicked with the ball virtually on the goal-line.
And the ref deciding to send Kuszcak off, leaving Rio to go in goal.
And the ref giving us a penalty in the first place.
But we did defend well, that is also true.

Re: Cook out
I dont understand the 3 & 4th line @ all. Are you suggesting it wasn't a pen & Kuszcak shouldn't have been sent off? If so you're the only Pompey fan i've known who thinks that tbh. And neither has got anything to do with being lucky.Locky_McLockface wrote:And when the ref didn't give Ronaldo a penalty when Distin barged him over in the box.pompeygunner wrote:luck came when Herman blocked Ronaldo.

It was a long time ago now but my recollection of that match is that United did create a few good quality chances that they somehow contrived to mess up. I don't want to take away from the clean sheet that Pompey earned but in 9 out of 10 matches, United would have scored. United had a truly outstanding team in that era. But it was Pompey's name that really was on the cup that year!

Re: Cook out
You mean because we were an away team at Old Trafford and/or because we were/are also an unfashionable team?
Got to say, Rio did a great job in trying to stop the goal too. Dived the right way and if the shot hadn't been as close to the post as it was, he would probably have got to it.
In the end, we rode our luck but also defended superbly. I'm sure we can pick many many games where we have dominated and not won - plenty of them in the last few seasons. In those cases though, we bemoan our lack of quality, not the lucky other team.

Re: Cook out
It all started off in the 3rd round when Preston had a penalty saved by James in the second half, were all over us after that and contrived to gift us a last minute own goal. James was man of the match. Name on the cup indeed.Pompey Gary wrote:It was a long time ago now but my recollection of that match is that United did create a few good quality chances that they somehow contrived to mess up. Re: Cook out
As I said you're the only Pompey fan I've ever known to think that unless you think that Refs never gave pens against Utd @ OT? In which case maybe I can see where you're coming from. If not as I said above. It was a pen & he had to go for bringing down Baros.Locky_McLockface wrote:I think we were lucky to be given the penalty, yes.pompeygunner wrote:I dont understand the 3 & 4th line @ all. Cook in apparently
When Donnie and Plymouth both lose tomorrow, and Mr. Cook (and his lads) deliver a Victory to the Faithful (in our last ever game in EFL4), will I hear "I Like Mike" shouted? I hope so.
