Postal ballot stamp?
I've just been down to the Post Office to see what the letter costs to send. The queue is out of the door, so I can't be arsed waiting. Has anybody else posted one yet and if so, what stamp does it need for first class?

Re: Postal ballot stamp?
I put just the normal stamp on mine - to be honest I didn't give it a second thought as it didn't seem heavy to me.
Re: Postal ballot stamp?
Depends on the size of the envelope, normal envelope or A4 size will be 1st class. A5 is classed as a large letter and costs more.

Re: Postal ballot stamp?
Very confusing nowadays. I don't want it to fail to arrive due to paying too little.
Just checking the royal mail site. A "letter" is:-
Letters not exceeding:
Length: 24cm Width: 16.5cm Thickness up to
and including: 0.5cm Weight limit: 100g
The envelope is within those sizes, so a good start. However, I have no idea what 100g weighs and don't have any scales
So (I think), it could be 62p (if within letter size and under 100g) or £1.24p if it is over 100g.

How many ballot papers?
One or two folded will be less than 100gms and therefore 62p.

Re: Postal ballot stamp?
Old school me I went back to the post office. Well under 100g and so 65p for first class.
Re: Postal ballot stamp?
Other way round, A5 envelope, under 100gm is normal first class stamp, A4 envelope is large, and then we go into weights and thickness of envelopes etc.VFTH wrote:Depends on the size of the envelope, normal envelope or A4 size will be 1st class. A5 is classed as a large letter and costs more.
Really easy to work out, cos everyone has scales at home and micrometers that can measure the thickness of your envelope!!.
My apologies, but fed up with having to go to the post office and collect junk mail and having to pay £1.40 for the priviledge (to be honest I don't bother anymore )

Nice photo, but I don't think it counts as proof of postage
