Actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has died aged 89, his family has announced.
He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and the Spy Who Loved Me.

No!!!! That is sad. My fave Bond - maybe Daniel Craig has just pipped him of late, but I loved his sense of humour in the role. I also loved him on Spitting Image.

So The Saint possibly becomes a real saint now.

And for those of a certain age Sir Roger was Ivanhoe back in the 50s (or early 60s) and played alongside Tony Curtis as his sidekick in some other programme beginning with P (Persuaders?) in the late 60s I think.

Much better actor than most gave him credit for.

He used to have a house in Titchfield iirc.

Sad loss. RIP Sir Roger.

Sir Roger was a regular attendee at the Grand Hotel Eastbourne in the late 80s, where I was priviledged to serve him in the restaurant as a wee youngster. He was as funny in private as he was on film, and was always a favorite. Very sad today.
