OT - Manchester

Post by Earl Grey »

Firstly, of course, I'm so utterly devastated to hear of this senseless attack.

From the BBC site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40010706

Meanwhile Viktor Ozerov, who heads the defence committee of Russia's upper house of parliament, called the bombing a "lesson" to British special forces for refusing to co-operate with their Russian counterparts.
He said: "We have said several times, although the UK was the first country that refused to co-operate with us at the level of intelligence services, that we are ready to share any information we have. And now, of course, this applies."

Not aware of this lack of 'co-operation'...."UK was the first country that refused to co-operate" etc.

'The first'?

Anyone heard of this before?

.
This tribute by James Corden is sensitively worded and only the meanest spirit would say it is an attempt to use his platform as a significant star in America to self-publicise.

I may not agree with his politics, or his comedy, but hats off to James Gordon for that. It was almost certainly ad-libbed and his emotion does seem very genuine.

I would agree that Manchester, like most in England, will get stronger and hopefully appreciate those around themselves, more today than yesterday. English spirit won't die because of a coward.

Most people find poetry a bit boring, but it can be very powerful. Check out this Tony Walsh poem read at the Manchester vigil last night:
