In 1979 James Callaghan won 269 seats, admitted defeat and resigned.
In 1992, Neil Kinnock won 271 seats, admitted defeat, and resigned.
In 2017, Jeremy Corbyn won 262 seats, claimed victory, and called on Theresa May to resign.
Seems slightly less than logical.
I think what we all agree on is that Corbyn and Labour did significantly better than expected, and the Conservatives did significantly worse than expected. However the fact of the matter is that the Conservatives won the largest number of seats, and you have to admit, if you're the party with the largest number of seats, you're the winner.

When you promise people what they want to hear (probably knowing you will not have to fulfill these promises) then people will vote for you. I wonder how many of these promises would have survived if Jeremy Corbyn had been elected

That's the thing you see, Socialists dream while Tories scheme.

In other words, Labour's promise to dump tuition fees wooed the student vote.Pompey Mike in Suffolk wrote:When you promise people what they want to hear (probably knowing you will not have to fulfill these promises) then people will vote for you. Odd, isn't it, that this was a similar manifesto promise that won the LibDems a place in the coalition in 2010, a promise which was promptly ditched, and caused "I Agree With" Nick Clegg to publicly apologise to all the voters who voted LibDem because of it.
Of course that was 7 years ago, when today's students were 11-14 years old, and far less politically aware.
And to lighten the mood a little, as I mentioned Mr Clegg's apology, I thought I would post this. Always worth a watch.
