I have never understood why home-grown players are so over priced. From what I've seen he has great potential, but will need a very good coach to raise his game (no idea what depth Everton have in this area).

He could be their number 1 for 15 years, if so he'd be a bargain.

Potentially a cracking deal, he is a very good keeper and I am surprised it has taken this long for someone to take him.

Good deal for both parties. I know it is a lot of money, but I would rather have Jordan Pickford than Ederson Moraes for whom Man City have just paid £35M. Should be a good team for Pickford as he will get enough action to show his value, but not being totally exposed in a rubbish team.

Okay they have to pay £30M if he turns out to be decent. But if he's crap, it's only £25M. Bargain.

Seriously though, if outfield players can be worth £100M+ (questionable I know), then why couldn't a very good keeper be worth £30M? A very good keeper must save far more points than any individual striker earns for a club. A good keeper instils a lot of confidence in the defence, if they know they can rely on the keeper. They also generally have a longer career, easily 5 years more than an outfield player.

I think this lad has the potential to be England's first choice goalkeeper in the not-too-distant future.

Certainly it's a lot of money, but sadly, that's the way the game is going, and there's not a lot we can do to stop it.

With the new TV deal money kicking in, the rules of the game have changed, 30 million is no longer an exorbitant fee to pay.
