oh dear, oh dear, ohdear!!
Sorry guys, but this was just another inept hoofball display from Pompey. Well taken goal from Luton and they deserved the victory. Forget who said it first but KJ's problem is he doesn't know his worse team never mind his best?? Afraid Ollie Hawkins just hasn't got it and for a very tall man does not win many ariel battles. There were a few moments (but very few) toward the end of the game when Pompey started playing crisp, on the deck passing football and had Luton chasing all over. Ok, we didn't score but it was effective and at least created chances - unlike the pump it route 1 and hope for the best. That's 4 straight defeats for KJ now and it seems he isn't learning from his or the teams mistakes. If he has a plan A (and that's a big if??) he most certainly does not have a plan B.
Time for a change before it's too late???

Re: oh dear, oh dear, ohdear!!
What surprises me is that I thought KJ would vary the formation more than Cook, thereby using different tactics for different games - but that doesn't seem to be happening.

I would notice to says it looks like the blokes lost the plot... But I'm not sure he has had it at Pompey!

Well at least it takes away any chance of a derby match in the third round which is just as well as you would beat us.

Agree with this tbh. We've lost all momentum from our promotion seemingly because KJ wanted to do things his way, well in doing it we currently look far weaker than last season. In fact last seasons team would beat our current lot in a straightforward fashion.Selsey Bill wrote:Me thinks there could be trouble at mill
And the complete unexplained disappearance of Naismith beggars belief.
I hate upheavel @ pfc, does my head in. But KJ needs to be careful, if the crowd turn then sometimes it becomes very difficult to come back from.
Please prove me wrong Kenny.

It just feels like Jackett has ripped the heart out the team and the squad.

Couldn't have put it better myself P85, that's just how I feel. It's as if he has sucked all the goodness from the fruit and we are left with chewed up and spat out pieces. Don't get me wrong, I think we have some excellent players but they are just not being directed properly. Team selection is not always as it should be; the same can be said about tactics and substitutions. I said before about plans a & b; probably a) is to win and b) try not to lose but I don't see much else taking place. What do others think?

Re: oh dear, oh dear, ohdear!!
Surely someone must of noted to him when he joined that we had a decent core of about 8-9 starting players, I think we all knew we maybe needed a new centre forward, new cenrtral midfleilder and a new GK, other than that, give the boys who got us up a fair crack of the whip.
That hasn't really happened, GK I'd say was a good signing, we were unfortunate with the full back who got injured but instead we've decided to limp through the season with misfits in that role. Thompson has been inconsistent, no faults with the CB's but the lack of cover is scandalous. The centre midfield has been a joke, Rose, Baker and Doyle would of been leaps and bounds better than what we have now. In Bennet, lalkovic, Naismith, Evans, Lowe and Chaplin we already had the supporting forwards, Kennedy (only on loan) has been pretty decent at times this season but it wasn't a position we were lacking in. Pitman has been very inconsistent and giving him the captaincy was also an oddity. Hawkins is a poor mans Michael smith, we've hit trumps with Lowe coming from the lower leagues and I know since vardy etc everyone goes crazy for finding these "gems" at lower levels but they are few and far between.
The 20 odd years I've followed Pompey I've always backed the manager, but in line with the above and the momentum we should of been building on last years team I can't say I'm a big fan of Kenny.

Sounds as fickle as POL
You can take the man out of Pompey
But you can`t take Pompey out of the man

It's things other than results that bother me more.BlueinPLtwenty wrote:Sounds as fickle as POL
There was a lot of togetherness in the squad and team last season - that appears to have evaporated.
The players that have been brought in do appear to be of questionable quality - not all bad granted and these things take time.
For me though the most concerning of all is that there is no real Pompey Style - we don't have a way of playing. Last season was procession football and we were fantastic at it. This season we seem to lump it long with spells of proper football but then revert to lumping long. Some of that will be confidence and laziness with a big man up front but we seem to have lost our footballing identity.
We are easy to play against - don't cause opposition defenders anything to worry about.
For me this biggest difference is lack of width and poor poor full backs.

Re: oh dear, oh dear, ohdear!!
That's rather unfair of you Rich. We recruited a second specialist left-back on loan, who then also got himself long-term injured. So that's two players we currently have to pay for not playing, we have a young back-up LB, and a CM who states that he can, and has, played a LB.richisbradders wrote:we were unfortunate with the full back who got injured but instead we've decided to limp through the season with misfits in that role. .
I before E except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour
