Whats your favourite sandwich and why.
Partly being nosey and partly because we can all have an opinion on that surely ?
Mine is a cheat really because I would go chip butty but thats probably because I cant eat them these days as I am trying to lose weight.

Got to be crispy bacon, soft fried egg but with a spread of marmite to give it some bite!! Why, because it's a meal.
Ooh, must go and make one.

Big fan of cheese and tomato ketchup - for a cold one.
Sausage, Bacon, Egg and a cheeky hash brown. Hopefully the sausage is on just the right side of cheap. Can't beat a cheap-ish sausage in a sandwhich with mustard on the bottom and ketchup on the top.
Greatest creation options both created while in sixth form.
1. Chicago town micro pizzas acting as the bread and a box or two of microchips as the filling (we only had one crappy miccy in 6th form)
2. Bread. Sausage, Bacon, scotch pancake, potato bread and fried egg all in a sandwhich. Beans as an optional extra.

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich and why.
Good question ISF.
For me it is a toss up between two,
First it is egg, cress and mayo, preferably with a good helping of cracked black pepper and has to be on cheap white bread. The reason being, when i worked at Marconi back in the 80's one of the lads wife used to make them and he used to bring them in and sell them when we were all doing overtime at the weekends when the canteen was shut, they were all properly boxed up and were the best egg and cress sarnies i have ever had, and possibly the best sarnies i have ever had.
Second, it is a good old corned beef and Branston pickle, corned beef has to be nice and thick and i have now switched to the small chunk pickle, this one is best on brown bread or tesco salt and pepper french stick. No particular reason, just love them.
As i can't get the original egg and cress anymore and despite my efforts to recreate them over the years and not being able to emulate them sufficiently, i would have to go with the corned beef and pickle now

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich and why.
It has to be bacon and ketchup in thick wholemeal bread.
If it is a bap, then the full English with everything is the one for me. If I try this in ordinary bread most of it inevitably ends up down my front and not in my mouth!

Very partial to a good bacon butty but they don't have the good back bacon out here. For a cold one, it would be the traditional ham and sharp cheddar, which Dasha prepares every day for my lunch.

White bloomer bread ( From the local bakers ) Grated cheese & Red onion , if it's cold .
Bacon ( From the Butchers ) or sausages ( from the butchers )
again bread from the bakers with Brown sauce if it's hot .

Re: Whats your favourite sandwich and why.
Any fried egg sarnie gets the memories flowing, add some HP Sauce and grated cheese and I'm in paradise (or Fratton Park). For some reason the combination reminds me of my misspent youf and the greasy spoon that used to be under the bridge at the town station.
Words ought to be a little wild, for they are the assault of thoughts on the unthinking.

Hot: Bacon butty.
Cold: Cheese with marmite and honey...lush.
Up there is cheese and tommy sauce as suggested by '85.
Also prawn and marie rose or else tuna and mayo.
Also like hot tuna melt.

Crusty white bakers shop roll, plenty of salted butter, mature cheddar sliced not grated and white onion. Eaten at the pub with a pint.

The Reuben, which is corned beef, swiss cheese and sauerkraut on rye bread
The philly cheesesteak, which is thinly sliced beef, melted cheese and your choice of add ons re onion / peppers / mayo etc served hot on a long bun
tomato ketchup btw, is an appalling insult to food and if you were at Kid mansion and were to enquire about ketchup for your steak i'd feel fully justified shooting you.
