Some lovely old pictures of FP through the years on the Snooze website.

Particularly like the ones showing the crowds back int eh day, everyone in suits and looking smart, and also the number of Matelots in the crowd in uniform.

I remember plenty of sailors in the crowd. Also the Royal Marine band used to march and play, and there was always a huge cheer when the mace bearer tossed his mace in the air and caught it, and an even bigger one if he failed to catch it. In his defence, he almost never dropped it!

BB - I also remember the Marines @ FP as you mentioned. As a young boy I would go brandishing a small box which I used to stand on at the halfway line, North stand so as to see over the wall!! Another memory is the 'round(ish) cough sweets' that a vendor sold I think for 1d or so in a small cornet shaped white bag. There were always lots of matelots at the ground - had an idea they got reduced entrance fee?? Happy days!! 8)

I am not sure if the club still does offers for the Navy ? Would be great if they did to get more fans through the doors, especially if we do ever build a bigger stadium and need a few more bums on seats.
