Well the Frenchies get the job done 2-0 and I'm hoping Belgium will send cheating crybaby Neymar packing. I think they may win quite convincingly but I'll take anything that makes Neymar cry for real..

Can we officially rename the World Cup....Euro Championships 2010, after all, that's all that's left.

Don't make me have to burn my vinyl ABBA collection and return my Nobel prize.
Also, if the football Gods could just see their way to dumping the crooked bribing Russkis out.

Looks good at the half. Acres of space for the WB's and ffs someone show Sterling the barn door at the half.

Pickford....motm.
Nice to see a game with an anonymous ref and zero crying or drama so far.

Overall great team performance and stoked at being involved next Wednesday...however.....
Can we be honest and say Rashford must start instead of Stirling, and we made quite a few silly errors where lack of concentration could have cost us against more attacking minded opposition. Pickford's goal kicks resemble Alan Knight's efforts at times!!!

Sterling has too start. He's a massive threat & defenders are struggling to stop him. Just needs a goal.uspompeyfan wrote:Overall great team performance and stoked at being involved next Wednesday...however.....

Are you joking about Pickford, if thats all you can say about him & not the superb saves & form he's in.Hmmmmm.

Croatia then, I'll take that thanks. Nice long game with extra time and pens and though Croatia are perhaps the better team I'd rather be playing them than the hosts.

Agreed about Sterling - whilst he hasn't scored his running off the ball and stretching of the defence was a significant contribution today.

Re: World Cup Yak Thread
I am not disputing his great saves and I would have had him as man of the match because of them. However, if we were looking at the team as a whole, I would say his long range kicking was his weakest point. He seems more comfortable with releasing to his defenders, a la James.pompeygunner wrote:Are you joking about Pickford, if thats all you can say about him & not the superb saves & form he's in.

Re: World Cup Yak Thread
Pickford's problem was that Sweden's front players were pressing high up when he had the ball, and so he couldn't just knock the ball out to his defenders. The England players in space were the wingbacks, right on the touchline, which is a pass with little room for error; either great pass or into touch. Nobody would be complaining if he had just hoofed the ball down the middle which Sweden could have dealt with all day, but Pickford tried the higher risk/reward option.
Althought Croatia are a more skillful team, I am happier playing them. I wouldn't have fancied a semi-final against Russia playing at home.
