FA Cup 1st Round

Post by Pompey Penguin »

Draw tonight at 7 pm for the first round of the FA Cup. Matches to be played around 10th November.

Lots of interesting non-league teams for ground tickers. I am hoping for either Hemel Hempstead or Oxford City away or Hitchen away, which would be short journeys. Hampton & Richmond Borough would be good for the Jamal Lowe link. I hope that one of the little teams gets a trip to Sunderland, which would be a great experience for them.

Any other thoughts or preferences?

Would that be played at Imber Court if they were drawn at home?

They might move it. Brentford are away that weekend to QPR for example.

That'd be my choice, too. Come on Pompey. We demand a trip to our spiritual home, Wembley....cos we're going up automatically, no play offs, so need an FA Cup Final! (Do they still do the semi-finals at Wembley?)

For me I'd love Cambridge or Colchester away - for totally selfish reasons!

Chippenham or Maidenhead away. Good for me to travel, but I spy another ticket ballot approaching.

...also, good chance we are on TV.

Away to Chippenham or Maidenhead. Tickets an impossibility I would venture to suggest. Chippenham's ground holds 3,000 and Maidenhead holds 4,000.

Assuming Maidenhead win the replay, you couldn't have asked for much more local a team, could you?

Proper tie that. Even if we don't get a 90 minutes broadcast, the BBC will put us in the live action group of games they do (like NFL Redzone).

Away to Maidenhead. They won 1-0 against Chippenham

There's a good chance it will be on TV in some form.
