Accrington v Pompey

Post by The Cincinnati Kid »

Accrington Stanley is, btw, one of the best team names in football.
Anyhoo….tough match, 1st place away to 4th.
They are not that great at putting the ball in the net so I think we'll nick the points if we can keep a clean sheet.
Div III. Call it what it is.

Agree completely. We'll do well if we can get a draw against an in-form side.

Prediction: 1-1

One of these days I must watch us at one of these places. What time would a coach leave and arrive back in Fratton for this trip?

Well, my prediction was correct.

I guess that I could also have predicted that we would dominate the opening 20 minutes of the game without actually scoring a goal. For example, it's not the first time that it's happened.

There are a number of teams in Division 1 with the skills and organisation to make the play-offs.

And our dominance without scoring goals shows that we're likely to have a very tough season.

On another day we could have been 3-0 up at half time. Looking at the table now is encouraging bearing in mind our results against teams now in the top six. This is a better team than last years. We fans must play our part. The Middlesbrough lot were booing their own team yesterday. And yet they are 3rd in the Championship. With fans like that they don’t deserve to go up.

I think it was better result than it looked.

Lancashire away is rarely a happy hunting ground for us whatever league we're in. I say take the point, and be grateful we don't have to go there in Jan or Feb!

Reckon you're right. If they'd scored first and we'd nicked an equaliser we'd all be happier.
Love the Red Dwarf reference in your signature, btw.
