Forgot to pour my wife a sherry which I usually do this time of day. She bought me my whisky and said something about being busy all day and the least I could do etc. Look here I said, 4.45 is a period of high tension. I think I got away with it.

Anyone else get stressed out listening on the radio?

Relaxed now. A point was about right. Roll on next week.

Luton won again. That first win looks better every week.

1 - 1 final score in dreadful conditions. A decent point in my view.

That has to be a great point - up north, wretched day, terrible conditions, backs to the wall - that is the sort of result you have to grind out and lets not forget the Barnsley are realistically one of the contenders for promotion.

To be honest, they looked a fairly decent side, our shape was all over the place at times. We could have created a lot more but didn’t, still, happy with a point all being considered as we could have easily lost it.

Interesting comment from the Barnsley manager: we have the best defence but not the best offence [in Div 1].

Maybe he has a point?

Re-reading my post above, I realised that it was unclear. The Barnsley manager was commenting on PFC as having the best defence and not his own team.

A wet and horribly cold afternoon in South Yorkshire.

Barnsley had more shots on target than us but most were from range. The saves from McGillivray perhaps made the efforts look better than they were but the conditions can't have been easy for him.

The best spell on the ball either side had during the game at all was us at the start of the second half when Barnsley couldn't get a kick. If we had scored then it was game set and match.

I though Curtis had a bad day at the office his touch was off and just not generally up to his high standards. Evans and Lowe must have covered every blade of grass at least twice.

Hawkins just doesn't fill be with confidence when through on goal to the point that I'd rather Thompson (I think it was) was Evans in instead.

I don't understand the substitute if im honest or why we only made the one. Hawkins struggled as the game went on and we looked more and under the cosh.

That being said I never really felt like Barnsley we're going to get a second, that being said... I didn't feel like we would either.

Excellent point imo. Barnsley away is as tough as it gets, well done Pompey.
