Re: Word on the cobbled streets..
interesting. If the rumoured deal for Ryan Yates from Forest on loan with a view to a permanent in the summer goes ahead then I can't see a third midfielder coming into the club too (Cannon's deal completes on 1st Jan) but the coaching staff will have a plan naturally.
On a side note - it increasingly seems likely to me that Gareth Evans may not get a new deal with Pompey for next season. He's playing very well this season but the club seem to be bringing in midfield players who are under 23 with a high ceiling and Evans is 30 and is untested at the Championship level.

I fully agree Jack. I am happy to ride the Evans hotstreak whilst it lasts, but I can't see him being good enough for the Championship, or even L1 on a consistent basis. I think we will see more of Saturday's line-up as the season goes on with Close/Cannon playing and Thompson (if he stays) pushed further forward instead of Evans.
Moncur looks like a weird signing. To me he appears to be another player who had some potential, but never really fulfilled it and has slipped down the leagues to be a Barnsley reserve. I don't see the upside compared to players like Cannon and Yates. Does anyone know something different?

Unless it's the end of Wheeler and or Green too?
Equally i suspect that we have probably spoken to lots of clubs about lots of players in the run up to the window... Which come through the door could be a different matter.
