Norwich Match
Got to say I was very impressed with that first half performance. What looks clear to me (I've not seen a game live yet) is that we have an excellent defence, but are very much lacking in midfield and not really good enough with our finishing. I'm only watching a live feed on hesgoal.com, but Pitman looked like he misses an excellent opportunity.
I was not expecting a win, but wanted to see how we play against a team at the top on the division above us. Okay, they are down to 10, but I think we've played very well.

Re: Norwich Match
great to hear that. Not sure what is happening with Hawkins but Pittman may have to play the full 90mins because there is not another striker on the bench.RubiconCSL wrote: ↑Sat Jan 05, 2019 6:19 pm Got to say I was very impressed with that first half performance. Re: Norwich Match
What a great goal! The build up, passing, control and finish. Wow - and that's just watching it online. I bet the atmosphere there must be amazing.

Re: Norwich Match
Thanks for link Rubi.
We looked like the complete side today - very enjoyable match.
Shame that Lowe will miss the next round (2nd yellow card), Curtis injured (?) and B Thompson last game. Good that Donoghue is back and that Green knows where the net is. McGilly with a premier class save too.
Big smile on face tonight.

Re: Norwich Match
Great goal, but they missed the best bit - Donahue's pass was fantastic. What a game he had! I think the whole defence was solid, including MacGillivray making a great save.
Someone shared a better clip of the goal on FB. If you can view it, it's here: https://www.facebook.com/pfctillidie69/ ... 944100457/
Okay, they made a whole bunch of changes, went own to 10 men early and are clearly more interested in the millions on offer if they get promoted. BUT, still a fantastic performance. We must bolster midfield and find a very good forward, then I really think we'll be fine in the championship (should, of course, we get there).

Re: Norwich Match
Lovely to have a local away game for me and my son. The actual game wasn't a classic but who cares when you get a last-minute winner away to a team at top of the division above you!
Obviously the Norwich early red card made a big difference (at the time I thought it was a bit harsh but my Norwich supporting friends felt it was justified - will wait to see it on the highlights). Pitman's missed header from a few yards was the best chance of the game, very shocked that he didn't put that away. Green seems to have the knack of scoring these late goals, I think he can make a difference in the second half of the season if he gets a run in the team.
My main take-aways are:
1) Clarke and Jack were again immense, such quality centre backs.
2) Pitman worked tirelessly but isn't the answer in our chosen formation - big bucks being spent on a strong / fast striker might be needed.
3) Donahue coming back is a real plus, a cultured player - could he be the best replacement for the sadly departing Ben Thompson?
4) Kenny has forged a real team spirit and character, happy birthday KJ!
