We need a morale boosting win very soon, fingers crossed it comes on Saturday.

Big blow that Jack W needs surgery again, poor lad.

Richard, I am in Mississippi for a short while, sorting out a hotel down here. I got a link from a Pompey chat room. Buffered a lot, but that could have been our offense.

Heard KJ's news about Jack on the radio after the game: Jack will be out for months.

It's really tough for Jack. I'm sure that we all wish him the best for the future. But I think that this is the third time on this knee?

With regard to the match, we did OK without some of our best players. The QPR goals seemed to come from two set pieces.

Hawkins seemed to play well. But, given this and the new arrivals, I was wondering whether we will ever see Pitman again in the L1 first team?

Awful news on Jack Whatmough; his fitness was one of the big pluses of the season. Out for the season, and this must cast doubt on his long-term future. The only (small) upside is that the main impact of such injuries is loss of pace, and Jack never had any to start with, so it wouldn't impact his game as much as if he was a speedy winger type.

Pleased to hear that Hawkins played well. Throwing him and Bogle up front could give us a plan B that we have lacked at times this season.

We could have played all night and we would still not have scored. Our fans were great considering there was nothing to get excited about. We defended two set pieces poorly which made the difference. QPR sadly didn't have to work for their win, we gifted it to them and gave them nothing defensively to think about. They were there to be beaten and our players didn't rise to the occasion. On a positive note, with one or two additions I think we would be able to compete with teams like QPR in the Championship. Finally, heard the news about Jack as we got on the train at Shepherds Bush. Gutted for him. Sadly one of those players who could have to retire from the game in his mid 20's.

Thanks for the reply Damian. Poor result but not surprising really. Very sad about Jack, out for the season now. I guess as others have said that could be the end of his career. But Burgess will be fine (as long as he stays fit and also out of trouble!)
