Re: Greg Halford
I don't see it happening, tbh, Kenny's said that he doesn't want to use the free agent market - there's a reason those players are free agents.
I think the Snooze are making more out of it than there is - a quick exchange of tweets between Halford and a couple of fans, and suddenly it's "Woo, Halford's coming back." I expect Kenny's had enquiries from the agent of every free centre back in the league.
The bench CB will be Matt Casey, who looked very comfortable against a decent Peterborough side, and Thompson and Hawkins are cover there too. No need to spend the money on Halford (who couldn't earn himself a contract at WBA, remember).

Re: Greg Halford
Stranger things have happened. He's obviously keen, as his latest tweet would suggest: "Feeling the love right now". At 34 would be probably just be keen to play again and therefore take a hit on his wages, and he was very happy when here.

Re: Greg Halford
I agree with SB. The offer has to be that Halford will sign for next to nothing to train, play a bit and hope to earn a contract (somewhere) for next season. The alternative is the end of his career at any sort of decent level, so worth a go on Halford's part.
The question is whether Jackett would prefer to take the risk on Matt Casey as reserve, with Walkes and Thompson in real emergencies. I would go this route as I think we get more out of it long term, but we would be totally reliant on Matt Clarke staying fit (which we might be in any case).

Re: Greg Halford
Tough call. Are we prepared to play nearly half a season with only two specialist centre backs plus Matt Casey.
One possible option might be to get Halford down here for a week to see how fit and sharp he is, and then decide.

Re: Greg Halford
Matt Casey has gone on loan to Basingstoke which must suggest that Kenny is bringing in another Centre-Back with more experience.....Linvoy?

Re: Greg Halford
My take is that if we suffer an injury to either Clarke or Burgess mid-game, then we have Thompson, Hawkins & Naylor that can all cover, and we then recall Casey from the loan.PakefieldBlue wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 10:27 pm Matt Casey has gone on loan to Basingstoke which must suggest that Kenny is bringing in another Centre-Back with more experience.....Linvoy?
