O/T: Beko

Post by RubiconCSL »

We were looking for a new washing machine and I found a decent one by Beko. I was wondering who Beko are. On their about us page, I discovered they are a subsidiary of a company with an interesting name, which is, in turn, a part of a multinational group with an equally interesting name.

I'll leave you to titter at the schoolboy humour. I'm sure Pomp would approve.

Hi Rubi...as you are aware I live in Spain and Beko here is a very popular, BUT CHEAP AND NASTY, TINNY rubbish. I know because my son has a holiday home here and has (had) a Beko dishwasher and washing machine, both are clapped out after several visits from technicos who laugh when they see its a Beko. In my opinion the best 'cheap' brand if you can get it is Balay which is a second brand of Siemans. 8)

Contrary to eltorro's experience, we have both a Beko dishwasher and a Beko washing machine and are very happy with them. Okay, it's not a Miele but seem to be pretty well screwed together and good value.

Never had a BEKO washing machine but have had their fridges and freezers in the past and had no problems with them. We also currently have a BEKO tumble dryer which has done sterling service over a number of years.

Well, we've clicked the final purchase button, so no turning back now. I just hope that Arcelik doesn't leave a nasty taste in the mouth.
