Marcus Harness - at Training Ground - poised to sign
Reports are coming in that say that Pompey have agreed a deal with Burton Albion for Marcus Harness and that he is at the training ground today for talks on personal terms.
I was very impressed with him in the game vs Pompey at the end of last year and although reports say he plays as a winger I thought he was most effective against Pompey when he came inside and played as a no.10 off from the forward. As I recall, most of Burton's dangerous play was routed through him and he was a busy, robust in the tackle and buzzed around linking play and always seemed to have created space for himself to receive the ball, turn and commit defenders before looking to unpick a defence with a clever slide rule pass. I was glad when he was substituted in the 84th min and then low and behold Pompey snatched an unexpected (and undeserved I thought but much needed) winner in injury time from Matt Clarke.
Perhaps Cannon or Evans could play right sided or alternate with Harness if he signs. Personally, I'd like to see another right sided forward with an eye for goal to replace Lowe (if and when he leaves) and Harness to be an option in the no.10 position but I like this rumoured signing a lot.
He will be a fan favourite in short order IMHO and at 23 has the ability and potential to play in the Championship or higher and to generate a decent price in any future sale.
Well done Pompey, get this one over the line!!
Nigel Clough rates him too https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/burton ... ss-3105487

He's signed. Pictures of him in the kit starting to circulate on Twitter.

really good signing I think. Exciting player with loads of potential and creativity, Just the player we needed.
Now let's see if Jamal wants to go or stay and get into the Championship next year playing in front of a passionate crowd

This seems like a really decent signing to me, and fits our preferred profile of new players perfectly.

no not necessarily. Don't overlook that a key addition was a true no.10 (which is what Harness is imho) and although he can play out wide I think this transfer would have happened even if Lowe had pledged an undying desire to stay at Pompey. KJ has said as much.

But then KJ has also said that we're at a "one-out-one-in" stage. KJ has also said that he sees Andy Cannon as a no.10.Jack_Tinn wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 10:16 pmno not necessarily. SB is right, this is Jamal Lowe's replacement.

Looks like a good signing and the Burton fans aren't happy which is always a good sign.......... hopefully.

Squad Numbers released. 10 - Lowe, 19 - Harness. Strange if Lowe is leaving, maybe he's not sold on the idea of a move.

Re: Marcus Harness - at Training Ground - poised to sign
interesting. I think that Harness is the no.10 player that KJ wanted to play in front of Naylor and McCorrie and to link play into the front three. I definitely think that Pompey are now at the "one in/one out" stage an that starts with Lowe. Cannon, Evans, Pittman and Dennis can all play as a no.10 but Harness is the natural player in that position imhoLocky_McLockface wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 10:19 amBut then KJ has also said that we're at a "one-out-one-in" stage. VG signing I reckon, he was excellent against us @ theirs on the box. Very quick, decent crosser. And dare we believe that Lowe may stay. One would play as a 10 & that would be a very potent attacking force along with Curtis & Harrison.
